How It Works
Six steps, and then you stop thinking about it.
Becoming a Haven Free℠ member is built to feel like the service itself: unhurried, personal, and written down. Here is the whole journey, from first conversation to your first year together.
The six steps
01
Conversation
We listen first: how you use the house, when you’re here, and what you’d like never to think about again.
02
Assessment
We walk the home with you and settle three decisions: how often we visit while you’re away, whether we care for the house while you’re here, and which personal services you’d like.
03
Your plan
One annual membership, billed as one statement a month.
04
Onboarding
Keys and codes received under signed receipt, your home record set up, your trades and preferences recorded.
05
Keeping
Visits at your rhythm, reports the same day, and one person to call who already knows the house.
06
Every year
A look back at the year’s visits, open items and upcoming care — and your renewal, with written notice well ahead of it.
The Membership Agreement
At a glance, in plain English.
The Member Service Agreement governs; this is the plain-English version of it. Your home’s full history goes with you if you ever leave.
| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| Term | Twelve months, renewing automatically. We remind you in writing before your cancellation deadline, and you can cancel the same way you signed. |
| Annual adjustment | A fixed annual adjustment on each anniversary, stated in your agreement. |
| Ending it | Either of us may end the agreement with 90 days’ written notice. |
| Close-out | A final visit and report, every key and code returned with a signed receipt, our access devices removed, and your full home record exported to you. |
| Selling your home | We offer the membership to your buyer; if they take it, your notice ends at closing. |
| Life events | On the death or permanent incapacity of a member, notice shortens to 30 days. |
| If we fall short | If we fail to put right a material problem within 30 days of your written notice, you may end the agreement on 30 days’ notice with no close-out fee. |
Your Home Manager
One named person who knows your house.
Trust is personal, so the relationship is too. Not a dispatcher and not a rota. One person who has walked your home, knows which valve is which, and can tell from a photograph whether something is new. Field staff support the scheduled visits; the relationship is with a person you know by name.
Keys and Access
Held under a written procedure.
Everything we hold is logged in an access register and receipted in writing, and everything comes back to you with a signed receipt at close-out. Alarm, gate and lockbox codes are never stored outside that register.
How We Earn Your Trust
Facts you can check, before you hand us a key.
Feeling at ease starts with knowing who is coming into your home and what stands behind them.
Insured
Haven Free carries general liability insurance. Ask, and we will send a certificate of insurance before you sign — naming you as certificate holder if you would like.
Background-checked
Everyone who enters a member’s home has passed a criminal background check.
A professional member
Haven Free is a member of a professional home watch association. We hold ourselves to the standards our members would expect of anyone they trust with a key.
No fees from trades
We accept no referral fees or commissions from the contractors we coordinate. Our only pay comes from our members, so our only interest is yours.
Keys under written procedure
Every key and code is logged in a written access register, signed for, and returned to you with a signed receipt.
Discreet by habit
We never share our members’ names, addresses or travel dates, and we never use your home in our marketing without your written permission.
Our Promises to You
Trust is the whole job. Here is how we keep it.
We will know your home.
One named Home Manager who has walked every room with you, knows which valve is which, and can tell from a photograph whether something is new.
We will tell you what we see.
A report after every visit, with timestamped photographs, the same day — the good news included, so you never have to wonder.
We will call when it matters.
If something needs your attention, you hear from us right away with a recommended next step. If it does not, it is noted in your report and handled the way you have asked.
We will hold your keys as a trust.
Every key and code is logged in a written register and signed for, and every one comes back to you with a signed receipt.
We will only recommend what the house needs.
Your plan comes from an assessment of your own home, not a package. We accept no fees or commissions from the trades we bring in, and a place on our partner panel is never for sale.
We will make it right.
If we fall short and do not put it right within 30 days of your written notice, you may end the membership with no close-out fee — and your home’s full record goes with you.
